Four out of five low-paid workers believe the current cost of living crisis is the worst financial time they have ever experienced.

Some 78% of transplant recipients earning below the actual living wage, the equivalent of 3.7 million workers, say misery is worse than ever.

And 56% of those earning less than £9.90 an hour or £11.05 in London have turned to food banks in the past 12 months.

Four in 10 low-paid workers regularly skip meals because they cannot afford to put food on the table, up from one in 10 in January.

The results come from an online survey by Survation of 2,054 people earning less than the actual living wage in August.

Living Wage Foundation Director Katherine Chapman said: "Everyone is feeling the pressure of soaring inflation, but our poll shows low-wage workers are being hit harder than the majority, with more than half having used food banks in the past 12 months.< /p>
