Cheerleading entrepreneur and conservative activist Jeff Webb, described as mentor to murdered Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirkdied “as a result of complications following an accident,” authorities said. He was 76 years old.
The International Cheer Union announced this weekend the death of Webb, the union president known as the “founder of modern cheerleading.”
“Unfortunate news to share. International Cheer Union President Jeff Webb has passed away due to complications following an accident,” according to a statement from the USI.
“Founder of modern cheerleading, he spent his life developing the sport he loved and defending the interests of young people around the world.”
The ICU did not provide further details on how or when Webb died.
The youth-focused conservative group Turning Point USA also paid tribute to Webb, calling him “a visionary who helped shape generations of young leaders and believed deeply in the power of community and country.”
“A dear friend of Turning Point USA and Charlie. He will be greatly missed,” Turning Point said in a statement.
