In the last quarter century of writing about cruises, I have boarded dozens of ocean vessels all over the world and sailed many rivers as well.
Along the way, I've spoken to hundreds of passengers of all ages and walks of life, and I'm confident that there is a cruise out there that will just about suit anyone who likes to go on vacation, even if it's only because the ships are as varied as the hotels.
Take your pick p Whether it's a resort-style ship that's the destination in itself, a riverboat that docks in city centers, or a hip traditional s with family-oriented, adults-only formal nights.
You can also choose a casual ultra-luxury super-yacht or an expedition ship sailing to places inaccessible by road or air.
My first cruise, aboard the now defunct Crystal Harmony, set the bar high. I don't remember much about the food or decor - except that they met my expectations for a luxury ship.

In the last quarter century of writing about cruises, I have boarded dozens of ocean vessels all over the world and sailed many rivers as well.
