Alex Scott refuses to present as BBC considers canceling Football Focus and Final Score

Alex Scott has announced that she has pulled out of presenting on BBC Football Focus on Saturday in support of Gary Lineker. Pundits are boycotting the broadcaster this weekend after the Match of the Day host was sacked over his Twitter comments, and the BBC plans to continue its regular football shows this weekend.

Scott has been presenting Football Focus since 2021 and has been a key figure in the BBC's presentation over the past few years. However, as the story that Lineker was asked to stand down for his comments on the Home Secretary's new asylum policy has unfolded, the ex-Arsenal star has revealed that she had informed her bosses that she would stand by her colleague.

The 38-year-old tweeted: "I made the decision last night that although I love my show and we had an amazing week winning an AJS for football, I don't feel right to move forward with today's show...hopefully I'll be back in the chair next week...."

It has been reported that the BBC's Kelly Cates has been approached to replace Scott, but has revealed the broadcaster is considering ending a significant amount of its football-based content this weekend.
