The Apple Watch could be subject to an import ban in the United States

Apple Watch

The Apple Watch has been a popular product for Apple and now the device may face a US import ban.

A previous U.S. International Trade Commission ruling found that Apple Wayhc infringes AliveCor's ECG-related patents.

The patent ruling against Apple was recently upheld by the Biden administration and, depending on the outcome of the appeals, Apple could face a ban on importing its Apple Watch models with ECG functionality.

AliveCor recently issued a press release following the ITC's upholding decision and you can see what the company had to say below.

The ITC's decision in December affirmed that Apple had infringed AliveCor's groundbreaking intellectual property. The LEO will become effective upon successful resolution of appeals in the case, including AliveCor's appeal of the U.S. Patent Trial and Appeal Board's decision.

"We commend President Biden for upholding the ITC's decision and holding Apple accountable for infringing the patents that underpin our industry-leading ECG technology," said Priya Abani, CEO of AliveCor. "This decision goes beyond AliveCor and sends a clear message to innovators that the United States will protect patents to create and develop new technologies that benefit consumers."

It will be interesting to see what happens next, though we suspect Apple and AliCor will reach some sort of deal that could resolve the issue before imports of the Apple Watch are banned in the United States. United.
