Arsenal have sent a clear transfer warning over reported Liverpool target – 'top teams will be interested'

Arsenal have been warned that "a lot of clubs will be interested" in signing Bukayo Saka if they fail to sign him to a new long-term contract.

Saka has become a key player for Arsenal over the past two seasons.

He was branded as a fantastic prospect from an early age and he is well on his way to fulfilling his potential.

The winger is one of the best young players in the Premier League at the moment and this season he has formed an exciting trio alongside Gabriel Jesus and Gabriel Martinelli.

Saka shone last season as Arsenal narrowly missed out on a Champions League place and this season he has already netted four goals and six assists in the league in just 14 appearances.

The Gunners are desperate to keep Saka at the club for the long term, but his current contract is due to expire in 2024.

William Saliba and Martinelli are in the same boat and Arsenal are just as keen to keep them as the club.

Earlier this year, it was claimed that Liverpool were following Saka with Jurgen Klopp, an admirer of the Englishman.

Now club legend Ray Parlor has acknowledged that "the best teams" will be after Saka.

"A lot of clubs will be very interested in Saka because he plays so well," Parlor told 888 Sport (via Daily Star).

"I think Arsenal are trying to get a deal done at the moment and I hope they can get him signed. In fact, there are a few players who need to sign up: William Saliba, Gabriel Martinelli and Saka .

"But Emile Smith-Rowe just signed and I hope Saka looks at it and says, 'we're building something, we can do it and I want to be a part of it.

"If he doesn't sign there will be a lot of clubs interested because he's such a good little player - but that's football. The best teams will always be interested in the best players.

"We had him in my time, with Thierry Henry and Dennis Bergkamp. But when you start to succeed as a team, why would he want to leave?"

Parlor also suggested that Saka is "not fazed by big occasions".

"We have all seen what he has done for England at this World Cup," Parlor added.

"He's not fazed by big chances and he's been brilliant since breaking into the Arsenal squad.

"Mikel Arteta obviously has a role for Saka on that right side and he's very effective there, but he's also very versatile and can play in any position.

"I'm sure all Arsenal fans will celebrate the signing of this new contract."
