Arsenal teenage record breaker Ethan Nwaneri had to change on his own ahead of Brentford debut

Arsenal boss Arteta has explained his reasoning for choosing Nwaneri. "It was pure intuition," Arteta said. "I met the boy. I really liked what I saw. Per [Mertesacker] at the academy gave me good feelings. He trained with us several times and then I got the yesterday's feeling that if the opportunity could arise, I was gonna do it."

Another move by the Spaniard which has been hailed is his decision to play Granit Xhaka in a more advanced role this season. "I think they made a decision, the number of times I saw Granit Xhaka lose the ball in their own half trying to play from the back, putting the ball on the pivot and they cashed in a goal," said the former Tottenham midfielder. Jamie Redknapp told Sky Sports.

"I think they said 'listen, get him higher up the pitch, get him as far away from his own goal as possible' where he can make the play in the box because he doesn't have not that pace in there area to get away from people.Teams were pressing him high and he found himself conceding the ball too often. This year he's had a good start to the season, the fact that the manager has him higher up the pitch, affecting the game more, that's important."
