Arsenal told to sign 'perfect' duo from Brighton while three 'phenomenal' stars can ease problems after 'tough blow'

Arsenal legend Emmanuel Petit has told his former club that it is important for him to be 'active' in the market during the January transfer window.

The Gunners are instead at the top of the Premier League as they are five points ahead of Manchester City.

The Londoners are expected to be busy again in January, looking to sign a new winger and central midfielder.

It is understood that Shakhtar Donetsk standout Myhaylo Mudryk is their 'priority' signing on the flanks.

They are also linked with strikers after it was confirmed that Gabriel Jesus will be out for a few months after suffering a knee injury.

The Brazilian has been in great form for Arsenal this season and Mikel Arteta admitted his injury was a 'death blow'.

Petit thinks Allan Saint-Maximin, Wilfried Zaha and Youssoufa Moukoko would all be "phenomenal at Arsenal".

"They have to be active. I said a few months ago in the English press that there were two or three forwards who I think would be phenomenal at Arsenal," Petit told Mega Casino.< /p>

"Allan Saint-Maximin, maybe Zaha and the Dortmund youngster who played a few minutes at the World Cup for Germany, Moukoko, who has been linked with Chelsea recently."

Petit also believes Arsenal should prioritize a move for Alexis Mac Allister and Moises Caicedo over Youri Tielemans.

Mac Allister has just won a brilliant World Cup by helping Argentina win the competition for the third time.

Caicedo has meanwhile performed well for Ecuador in Qatar and he's been linked with a move elsewhere.

Petit fears Tielemans is not 'what Arsenal need'.

"If we're talking about midfielders for Arsenal, I know the links are there with Tielemans at Leicester, who I think is a good player but I'm not sure he's what Arsenal need. I am a huge fan of two Brighton players: Alexis Mac Allister and Moises Caicedo," added Petit.

"Mac Allister, I said it last season before he won the World Cup, he's a guy who does everything in midfield. He sets the tempo, carries the ball. Technically, he is very good. He scores goals.

"The guy sitting next to him at Brighton, Caicedo, is excellent.

"If Arsenal could take these two players, two guys who know each other, they would fit in perfectly at the club. They would do whatever Arteta wants in midfield. Both are young and could form a partnership for years .

“Mac Allister just won the World Cup. He won the Copa America last year. In terms of experience and maturity, he has played almost every game in the World Cup and he has played very well.

"He's at Brighton! What are Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City doing? Come on! He's playing brilliant football."
