At least 5 dead in condo shooting in Canada, police say

The shooting occurred in the town of Vaughan, Ontario, about 20 miles north of Toronto.

At least five people were fatally shot Sunday night when a gunman opened fire at a condominium building in Vaughan, Ont., authorities said.

Dozens of ambulances and police responded to the scene in Vaughan, a town about 20 miles north of Toronto.

Maniva Armstrong, spokesperson for York Regional Police in Ontario, said in a brief interview Sunday night that officers are still trying to determine how many people were killed and injured in the shooting.

The unnamed shooter was fatally shot by officers, Ms Armstrong said. Authorities were not looking for other suspects, she added.

Investigators were looking for possible motives, she said. It was not immediately known if the shooter had any connection to the victims, who have not been identified.

Ms. Armstrong said there may be more casualties in the building.

"Officers are still in this building, cleaning it up," he said. -she declared.
