Woman killed in Christmas Eve pub shooting in Wallasey named

A witness to the aftermath of the Christmas Eve shooting that killed a young woman has revealed the horror of the night as the community struggles to come to terms with the tragedy.

Elle Edwards, 26, was dancing with friends minutes before she was shot in the head about ten minutes before Christmas Day. She was not the intended target of the shooting.

Merseyside Police Deputy Chief Ian Critchley has vowed to get justice for Elle, but revealed police have yet to find the murder weapon.

A 20-year-old woman told the Daily Mirror today how the carnage unfolded.

And other locals have described how the festive mood at the Lighthouse Inn in Wallasey Village, Merseyside, changed when pub-goers realized gang members from another area were drinking at the crowded bar.

Shivering as she remembered the horrific aftermath, the young woman said she was at the back of the bar when she heard four loud noises.

“At first I thought it was the music,” she said. “I was standing right next to a big loudspeaker. I must have confused them with beats.

"Now I know it was gunshots, I thought I heard four, but I heard from other people that there were 12. In a second, someone came running in and yelled ‘someone just got shot.’”

That's when the horror unfolded when she spotted a man holding a bullet wound to his stomach.

“I saw a boy on the floor who had rushed over holding his stomach. The manager ran up to the boy and rammed his stomach. All the staff were helping.”
