Ben Wallace is believed to have a falling out with Home Secretary Suella Braverman as he prepares to quit frontline politics and resign as secretary to Defense in the upcoming cabinet reshuffle.

< p>The senior Tory also revealed he would not be seeking re-election as an MP in the next election, but ruled out leaving "prematurely" and to trigger another by-election for the Conservatives.

"I went into politics in the Scottish Parliament in 1999. It's been 24 years. I've spent over seven years with three phones by my bed" , he told the Sunday Times of his desire to leave Westminster.

Mr Wallace is not going quietly, however, after being embroiled in a turf war with Ms Braverman about British soldiers being asked to fill any gaps in Border Force personnel this summer.

The Defense Secretary has refused Ms Braverman's request for 750 troops to replace all Border Force officers immigration on strike or absent, according to the Mail on Sunday - saying the Home Office should have made contingency plans.

A source told the newspaper: "The Home Secretary must not be allowed to always rely on our hard-working armed forces to be there to mop up the incompetence of the Home Office. If she was so worried, she should have planned ahead."

Ms Braverman reportedly asked 750 members of the Armed Forces to cover immigration posts in the event of wider strikes at airports and ports, warning of major travel disruption.

But Mr Wallace would only want to spare 250 soldiers to avoid canceling furloughs.A Home Office source told the newspaper that Mr Wallace "has halved the number of troops it is willing to offer to help fill jobs compared to the last round of Christmas strikes".

They added: "Now a threat impending summer of chaos seems to be of little concern - but that's for the millions of people trying to use our airports. Everything is so petty.
