Better Call Saul Season 6 plays "fun and games" and takes us somewhere unexpected

At the start of the episode, we see Jimmy and Kim doing exactly what Mike told them to do: go about their normal day. Kim goes to court, Jimmy heads to his office and the day continues. Meanwhile, Mike and his guys clean the apartment and remove all traces of Howard's murder. Sure enough, when Jimmy and Kim finally get home that night, it's as if nothing had happened. The place is immaculate. But the two of them can't easily forget what happened, so they head to a motel for the night.

At the motel, Jimmy makes it clear that he thinks - or at least hopes - that they will get past these horrific events. "One day we'll wake up, brush our teeth, go to work and at some point suddenly realize that we haven't thought about it at all," he says - and Kim remains silent. Things only get worse, especially after Jimmy and Kim stop by a memorial held for Howard at the HHM offices.

Everyone seems inclined to believe that Howard was a drug addict who committed suicide by stepping into the sea. Everyone except Howard's wife, Cheryl. She swears up and down that Howard was clean and mentions that she heard from Howard that Jimmy was tormenting him and pulling pranks. Jimmy swears he is innocent and tries to pass off his cruelty to Howard over the years as jealousy. But Cheryl doesn't buy it, and eventually Kim steps in - telling a blatantly false story of how, while still working at HHM, she saw Howard snort cocaine. Having a known crook like Jimmy say something might not be convincing, but hearing it from the reliable and respected Kim Wexler is another matter. Unable to continue, Cheryl runs to the bathroom sobbing.

In the parking lot, Jimmy says he knows it was hard, but now they can move on. "Let the healing begin!" he declares. Kim stops, pauses, looks at him – then plants a passionate kiss on his lips. Here, I thought the show once again relied on the idea that being bad (or badass, if you will!) is a huge aphrodisiac for Kim. But then a curious thing happens: Kim gets in her car and drives off, leaving Jimmy behind.
