Kwasi Kwarteng reveals he warned Liz Truss to 'slow down'

Bitter Kwasi Kwarteng tonight lashed out at Liz Truss' "distressed and emotional" "crazy" decision to sack him as chancellor.

The top Tory claimed he personally warned the Prime Minister of 49 days to 'slow down, slow down' as they crash the economy.

When she then fired him in a failed attempt to save himself, he told her that he only had a few weeks left at his job. In fact, she quit six days later.

Mr. Kwarteng admitted "I'm so sorry" for the families who are now paying hundreds of extra pounds a month on their mortgages.

But he refused three times to apologize to landlords whose rates skyrocketed, despite saying, "I'm responsible."

He was made redundant after their mini-budget promised tax cuts funded by £72bn of borrowing, leading to market chaos that drove up mortgage rates.

When she fired him, Ms Truss claimed she had 'acted decisively' after the mini-budget went too far too fast.
