Rishi Sunak supporters have cast doubt on reports that Boris Johnson managed to win the backing of 100 Tory MPs as rivals held talks on Saturday night.

A campaign source for the former Prime Minister is said to have claimed Mr Johnson has the numbers to officially enter the race to replace Liz Truss at Downing Street.

En Responding to a reporter pointing out that Mr Johnson didn't have 100 publicly declared supporters, Sunak supporter Richard Holden said: 'That's because they don't exist.'
