Boy dies and father fights for his life after food poisoning in UK holiday hotspot

A six-year-old boy died after catching a stomach bug that made him constantly vomit at a British holiday spot.

The boy's father is currently in hospital fighting for his life, according to reports.

Antonio Mirabile, 46, and his pregnant wife Rosalia Manosperti were vacationing with their six-year-old son in the Red Sea resort of Sharm El Sheikh in Egypt when the boy fell ill.

Rosalia's brother, Roberto Manosperti, told La Stampa that the boy and his father were the most affected, while the mother suffered from milder symptoms.

He said, "They were throwing up constantly. They left on June 26 and had to stay in Egypt for two weeks. They had been planning this vacation for months."

Roberto added that his brother-in-law initially suspected he had ingested pool water.

They were given pills to treat food poisoning - but the family 'went back to the [hotel] room still vomiting,' he adds.

By Saturday morning, the symptoms had not gone away, so they called an ambulance to transport them to the hospital.

Doctors tried CPR for an hour but were unable to resuscitate the young boy.

His father was admitted to hospital with “symptoms of onset kidney failure” and is now in intensive care, he said.
