A young Briton was not trying to take a selfie when he was killed by a helicopter blade, Greek officials admit.

Jack Fenton, 22, was killed in Athens on Monday, with his family saying they were "completely devastated" by the loss of their "wonderful" boy.

He died instantly when the tail rotor blade of the Bell 407 struck him in the head around 6:20 p.m.

Jack, believed to be a student at Oxford Brooks University, was in the Greek capital after a brief vacation in Mykonos with friends.

Investigators have now ruled out the possibility that Jack tried to take a selfie when he died.

Instead, officers are now investigating the possibility that he forgot his cell phone on the way out of the helicopter, rushed to retrieve it, and accidentally turned toward his tail in rotation after picking up the device.
