The British Army's official Twitter, Facebook and YouTube accounts were hacked for nearly four hours on Sunday, with the scammers promoting non-fungible token (NFT) collections and cryptocurrency scams.

Just after 2:00 p.m. EST on Sunday, the UK Ministry of Defense (MOD) press office tweeted that it was aware that the army's social media accounts had been hacked and that it had opened an investigation.

Nearly four hours later, at around 5:45 p.m. EST, the Bureau provided an update that the account breaches had been resolved. The official British Army Twitter account also apologized for the posts, saying it would investigate and "learn from this incident".

The breach of the military's Twitter and YouTube accounts that occurred earlier today has been resolved and an investigation is ongoing .

The military takes information security very seriously and until its investigation is complete, it would be inappropriate to comment further.
