A British father and son have been found dead with the rest of their unconscious family after suspected poisoning in Bangladesh.

Police in the South Asian country discovered the family of five in an apartment in the eastern town of Sylhet.

Local cops identified the father as Rafiqul Islam, a taxi driver in his 50s, who was found dead alongside his 16-year-old son, Michael.

Rafiqul's wife, Hosne Ara Islam, 40, their daughter Samira Islam, 19, and their son Sadikul Islam, 21, were also found unconscious and are being treated at a local hospital.

The family are British citizens from the Riverside area of ​​Cardiff and traveled to Bangladesh this month, Wales Online reports.

The eldest son of the family is called Sadiqul and he is 24 years old, according to British records.
