British teenager raped in Barcelona near nightclub after being hit in the head with a stone

Police are investigating the alleged rape of an 'English' teenage girl near a Barcelona nightclub.

The 19-year-old was reportedly hit in the head with a stone before being sexually assaulted.

She was rushed to hospital after being discovered on a street near the nightclub, named Input, in shock with a head injury, cuts and bruises to her knees.

The alarm was reportedly raised around 5am yesterday morning by security guards, about an hour after the woman left the nightclub.

The teenager told them that she had been hit in the head with a rock.

The ongoing investigation is being carried out by the Catalan police Mossos d'Esquadra. They could not be reached for comment early this morning.

The victim was described as "English" by some local newspapers and "Anglo-Saxon" by others.

Catalan police have not officially commented on his nationality and should not because they do not usually confirm the origin of crime victims.

A spokesperson for MOSSOS D'Esquadra has confirmed that the force is investigating the alleged rape of a teenager near a Barcelona nightclub in the early hours of yesterday morning.

The spokesperson said, "The investigation is ongoing. No arrests have been made yet."

He said he was unable to provide information on the nationality of the victim at this stage.

They are said to be chasing two men partially captured by CCTV. No arrests have yet been made, although investigators have obtained DNA evidence from the teenager's underwear, which could be crucial in identifying those responsible.
