Byron Allen's TheGrio hosts live lineup at NABJ-NAHJ convention (EXCLUSIVE)

TheGrio, Byron Allen's black news and entertainment media platform, will present a 90-minute session at the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) convention and job fair 2022, with a focus on the recently launched black podcast network theGrio (TGBPN) and the acquisition of Black News Channel by Allen Media Group.

NABJ's annual convention, organized in conjunction with the National Association of Hispanic Journalists (NAHJ), begins Aug. 3 in Las Vegas, NV, with theGrio presenting on Fri. Aug. 5 at 3:30 p.m.

The live event will kick off with Geraldine Moriba, SVP of News and Entertainment for theGrio, unveiling plans for TGBPN and discussing how Black News Channel will be integrated into theGrio platform following its $11 million acquisition dollars. The conversation will be moderated by Natasha Alford, theGrio's VP of Digital Content, with Moriba joined by TGBPN hosts Touré, Michael Harriot, Panama Jackson and Maiysha Kai, as panelists discuss black culture and its role into the power of podcasting, as well as how podcast hosts have honed their craft.

Following the panel, theGrio put together live-to-tape recordings of episodes of two new TGBPN podcasts, “Dear Culture with Panama Jackson” and “Writing Black with Maiysha Kai,” and concludes with “Power to the Podcast", a behind-the-scenes look at how the panelists grew their podcasts, information on how to break through the noise, podcasting best practices and tips, and why each chose TGBPN as their platform. podcasting.
