Chelsea star sends message to Angela Cullen after split from Lewis Hamilton

Chelsea star Reece James has sent a message to Angela Cullen amid her split from seven-time F1 champion Lewis Hamilton. The Chelsea defender was quick to comment on Cullen's emotional tribute to Hamilton on Instagram with a loving heart emoticon.

Two days later, Cullen responded to the 23-year-old with a prayer emoji. Cullen and Hamilton announced they would part ways on Saturday just before qualifying in Jeddah.

Cullen's Instagram statement reads: "Exactly 7 years ago on this day I was in the F1 paddock for the first time at the Australian GP. Today I am thrilled to share that I'm off to my next adventure.

"I am so grateful and blessed to have had this incredible journey in F1 and I know my story will continue. Thank you Team MB, who have been my family for 7 years.

“And @lewishamilton you GOAT!! It was such an honor and a pleasure to be by your side, I am so proud of you and all that you have achieved. Thank you for supporting me, believing in me and show me the limitless potential we all have within.

“I'm so excited to watch the next chapter for you. There's nothing you can't do. great. As dreams come true. Always by your side. ALWAYS WE RISE."

Sky Sports F1 expert Martin Brundle suggested the move was "not good news" for Hamilton amid Mercedes' struggles. He called the New Zealand physio 'indispensable' and hinted that Hamilton was more optimistic in Jeddah than team-mate George Russell.

Nico Rosberg also weighed in on the decision, stressing that it was "not ideal" for the British F1 legend and was "another challenge" for him to face. No details have emerged about the pair breaking up, with Hamilton saying only that she is quitting her role to "pursue her dreams".

However, Mercedes boss Toto Wolff has since said Hamilton has decided to part ways as part of a series of changes. Hamilton wrote, "For the past seven years @cullen_angela has been by my side, pushing me to be the best version of myself.

"I'm a stronger athlete and a better person because of her. So today, I hope you'll join me in wishing her the best as she takes the next steps to pursue her dreams. Thank you for everything Ang, can't wait to see what the future holds for you."
