Child falls from moving car in Ningbo

Motorists and other passengers rushed to rescue a child who had fallen through a car window.

The terrifying clip was recorded at an intersection in Ningbo, a city in eastern China just south of Shanghai.

In surveillance footage, cars can be seen queuing at a red light, as a child suddenly appears through the passenger-side window of a white vehicle.

When the driver starts and the car drives away, the child falls out of the window and hits the ground.

He is then left lying in the middle of the road as the car carrying him speeds away.

At one point, another white car approaches the boy before blocking the road to avoid further injury.

Several vehicles stop as dazed drivers and passengers get out of their cars to rescue him.

The first man to reach it quickly picks it up and leads it away from the hazards of the road, carrying it to safety across the crosswalk.

The child, who looks between five and eight years old, was so small that he could easily have been missed by passing motorists.

A local outlet reported that Good Samaritans contacted the police once the child was safe.

One of his rescuers, a man named Yang Haifeng, is said to have been the first motorist to block traffic behind him.
