June 5 – LigaMX's Club Leon beat MLS's Los Angeles FC 1-0 in the second leg final at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles, Calif., and returned the title to Mexico.

Club Leon's 3-1 aggregate win over LAFC earns them their first-ever Concacaf crown and qualification for the 2023 Club World Cup to be played in Saudi Arabia later this year.

The Mexicans took a one-goal lead in the second leg.

William Tesillo and Angel Mena scored for the hosts at the Estadio Leon in Leon, Mexico before 2023 SCCL top scorer Denis Bouanga netted his seventh goal of the tournament as time ticked away quickly, to prepare for Sunday's final.

It was a quick start that saw Club Leon take the lead in the 20th minute with Ivan Moreno on the right wing to find Lucas Di Yorio, whose shot beat LAFC goalkeeper John McCarthy.

Club Leon found their rhythm on the wings and dominated the first half but failed to seize their chance.

LAFC worked their way into the game and started creating their own chances, but nothing stopped as they started to commit more players to attack.

Club Leon defended themselves well to become the 14th Mexican team to win the 15th edition of the Champions League in its current format. The Seattle Sounders broke the streak with their win last season.

For LAFC, this was their second defeat in the Champions League final after being beaten in 2020.

This was the last season of the current Concacaf Champions League format which will expand from 2024 to a 27-club competition and will consist of five rounds (first round, round of 16, quarter-finals, semi- finals and final) with all draws played in a knockout format.
