Express Sport understands Al Ahli are hoping to strike a full deal with Man City for Riyad Mahrez this weekend.

Plans are already taking shape behind the scenes for a possible medical examination which could take place early next week - possibly in Dubai.

Manchester City are due to report for pre-season training on Monday before departing for Tokyo on July 19 for their Far East tour.

Mahrez, who would team up with Roberto Firmino, international team-mate Ryad Boudebouz and Edouard Mendy in Saudi Arabia, is understood to be keen on the move which is expected to net City a substantial fee of over £30m.

Al Ahli has been showing huge ambition since winning the Saudi Second Division title last season and is also targeting Sadio Mane.

Kyle Walker is also in talks to leave the Etihad Stadium for a new overseas challenge with Bayern Munich. He could still stay at City but the England international right-back is now looking to a new chapter in Germany with the Bundesliga champions.
