TV debate on Tory leadership cut short after mysterious crash

A live debate featuring Conservative leadership candidates Rishi Sunak and Liz Truss on the TalkTV news channel was abruptly cut short after a loud noise was heard on set.

In the few seconds before the screens turned off, Ms. Truss could be seen coming off stage with a visible worried expression on her face, and could be heard saying "oh my god".< /p>

The transmission interruption came just over half an hour into the hour-long baking of Mr. Sunak and Ms. Truss by TalkTV political editor Kate McCann and the readers of The Sun newspaper.

Ms McCann's planned co-host, Sun political editor Harry Cole, has been forced to re shoot after testing positive for Covid -19.

TalkTV presenter James Whale said Ms McCann passed out and collapsed while questioning the prime minister contenders . The show was one of the highest-profile shows of her career, which had previously seen her as a political correspondent for Sky News.

After the show ended, a spokesperson for the owners from TalkTV, News UK, said: "There was a medical issue, it's not a safety issue and the contestants are fine. If we can get back on the air we will."

< p>The channel said Mr. Sunak and Ms. Truss remained in the studio after the incident, chatting with members of the public off camera.
