County Championship: Worcestershire's Jake Libby reaches 1,000 points for the season against Durham

Jake Libby, Worcestershire batterLV= County Championship Division 2, New Road, Worcester (day one) Worcestershire 104-1: Roderick 52, Libby 46*Durham: yet to beatWorcestershire 0pts, Durham 0ptsMatch scorecard

The opener marked his personal milestone with a single from Durham's new recruit, Sri Lankan seamer Vishwa Fernando.

Libby and Gareth Roderick put on 97 when play finally got underway at 3:45 p.m. with a possible 36 overs remaining after a lengthy rain delay.

Conditions looked ideal for bowling after Durham captain Scott Borthwick won the toss.

But his bowlers did not find the right length consistently and Roderick (52) had time to complete a half-century before being dismissed by Bas de Leede shortly before a game interrupted by bad light.

Durham had already assured of promotion, after Leicestershire failed to collect batting bonus points in last week's defeat at Sussex, and needed up to five more points to clinch the title Division 2.

Closest rivals Worcestershire started the match 21 points ahead of Leicestershire, third, who had moved ahead of Sussex following the latter's points deduction.

The home team remained unchanged but Durham handed debuts to Fernando, with Brydon Carse and Matthew Potts on England duty.

Roderick and Libby took a positive approach against Ben Raine and Fernando.
