Danny DeVito: My penguin was 'better' than Colin Farrell's in 'The Batman'

Danny DeVito has blurted out that he still believes his version of the Batman villain, the Penguin, is the best on screen.

Although Colin Farrell took over the role of "The Batman" from Matt Reeves opposite Robert Pattinson as the Caped Crusader, DeVito revealed during a polygraph test video (below) that his version was "better". DeVito played the Penguin in Tim Burton's "Batman Returns," starring Michael Keaton as Batman.

DeVito saw a photo of Farrell and asked, "What about that penguin?" by the lie detector test administrator.

"Who, Colin?" said the "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" actor. "I like Coline. He's a great guy. [But] my Penguin was better."

He added, "Was that the truth? It certainly was, in my opinion."

DeVito isn't the only Burton 'Batman' alum to recently reflect on the legacy of 'Batman Returns'. At the film's 30th anniversary this year, Michelle Pfeiffer admitted playing Catwoman was "one of the hardest things" she's done in her career and she still gets the whipping from the set. Director Burton compared "Batman Returns" to the darkness of Reeves' "The Batman."

"It's funny to see [Matt Reeves' 'The Batman'] now, because all those memories are coming back, 'It's too dark,'" Burton told Empire magazine earlier this year. "So, that makes me laugh a little."

While Reeves is currently working on the 'Batman' sequel, Farrell is set to direct an HBO Max spin-off Penguin series that's "almost like a 'Scarface' story." Writer/director Reeves will not direct the series but will oversee the scripts and serve as the executive producer. Lauren LeFranc ("Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.") will serve as writer and showrunner on the series.

But that's not all for the Bat Universe. Burton's Batman is even stepping into the 21st century thanks to Keaton reprising the role of Batman for the upcoming DC movie "The Flash." And Val Kilmer said ""to return to the role after "Batman Forver," just as "Justice League" alum Ben Affleck dons the cowl again for "Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom."

Could we see a DeVito-Farrell Penguin swimming at some point? Let’s come back later with this lie detector test…
