De Vrij's Inter contract decision expected to be made by March

Stefan de Vrij's agent believes a decision on the Inter centre-back's future will be made between February and March next year.

De Vrij's contract with the Italian giants is due to expire at the end of the 2022-23 campaign, and the Dutch international has been heavily linked with a move to Premier League side Tottenham.

With his contract at Inter set to expire, interested parties like Tottenham could contract De Vrij from January to sign him as a free transfer on a pre-contract deal.

Inter are reportedly not prioritizing linking De Vrij, but are instead considering a new contract for fellow defender Milan Skriniar, whose contract is also due to expire at the end of this campaign.

However, Federico Pastorello, De Vrij's agent, says Inter are keen on a new deal, a sentiment also shared by the former Lazio player himself.

Pastorello also insists there is no need for the 30-year-old to rush a resolution on his future and instead should focus on helping Inter close the gap from 11 points with Napoli in Serie A.

He told TuttoMercato: "He is very focused today on the possibility of catching leaders Napoli and wants to make his strong contribution also for the second part of the season.

"Then February to March will be a good time to make some choices.

"There will be no shortage of offers, but at his age and for a very caring lad like him, who has basically played for two, three clubs in his career, all aspects will be important.

"He will soon be a dad too and that will be another aspect he will take into consideration. The taste and the possibility of staying [at Inter] is strong."
