Boris Johnson's plane lands in the UK
Disgraced Boris Johnson landed in Britain after boasting he was 'ready' to return to Downing Street - even if that cuts the Tories in two.
The former prime minister, who was kicked out over parties, 'porkies', paint jobs and knowing about accused 'groping' MP Chris Pincher, landed in a storm that further plunges the UK into chaos.
After abandoning Parliament last week to give a £135,000 speech, Mr Johnson stayed on the other side of the Atlantic in a beach bar as the government crumbled – although he is still a sitting deputy.
But now he is finally home in a lightning-fast Tory leadership race after more than 50 MP fans – including four Cabinet ministers and Priti Patel – backed him for a sensational comeback in as Prime Minister.
Mr. Johnson and his wife Carrie arrived at London Gatwick on a British Airways economy class flight after leaving their luxury holiday in the Dominican Republic. He was allegedly booed by other passengers.
When he landed, a series of Tory MPs confirmed that they had now officially nominated him as Prime Minister.
But in a blow to Boris Johnson today, his former Deputy Prime Minister, Brexit leader and chief of staff have all turned on him to support Rishi Sunak instead.
