Disney+ will add immersive Imax-quality audio for Marvel movies in 2023

Disney+ is bringing another side of the Imax theater experience to the living room: the streamer plans to add support for DTS-enhanced Imax signature audio for a select batch of Marvel movies and other titles in 2023.

Disney Streaming, in partnership with the DTS audio technology subsidiary of Imax and Xperi, has announced that Imax Enhanced titles on Disney+ will be available with signature Imax sound by DTS on supported hardware devices later this year. According to the companies, the new feature is "specifically calibrated" to deliver immersive sound reproduction on home theater systems, ensuring that "filmmakers' creative intent is fully optimized for Imax quality presentation".

This is the second phase of Disney+'s partnership with Imax. In November 2021, the streaming service launched 13 Marvel movies in Imax's extended 1.90:1 aspect ratio to deliver up to 26% more on-screen frames for select footage. /p>

All Imax Enhanced titles on Disney+ will be available with signature Imax sound by DTS this year, featuring the exact date yet to be determined.
