EasyJet passenger arrested for 'smoking in toilet' on flight from UK to Spain

An easyJet passenger has been arrested after being 'caught smoking in the toilet' on a flight to a resort in Spain.

The passenger was arrested by police when the flight landed at Spain's Alicante airport after it was discovered he was behaving in a disruptive manner, the airline said.

A passenger on the plane said the man was caught smoking in the toilet when they sounded the alarm, Belfast Live reported.

The cabin crew on the 4:15 p.m. flight from Belfast to Spain reportedly acted quickly in the face of the alarm.

They confronted the passenger, who said he was calm when he was grabbed and the captain informed the plane of what had happened.

A spokesperson for easyJet said: "We can confirm that flight EZY6703 from Belfast to Alicante yesterday was met by police on arrival in Alicante due to disruptive behavior by a passenger.< /p>

"EasyJet cabin crew are trained to assess all situations and to act quickly and appropriately to ensure that the safety of the flight and other passengers is not compromised at any time.

"While such incidents are rare, we take them very seriously as the safety and well-being of passengers and crew is always easyJet's priority."
