Elon Musk just explained his 'life-changing decision' and the story is quite entertaining

Of all the mini Elon Musk controversies we've been collectively sucked into over the past decade, the one we put to bed last week may have been the "most Elon Musk".< /p>

It had it all: innovation, rumor, miscommunication, assumption, futurism, minimalism, financial mystique, one-upmanship, forgotten Tweets, obfuscation, nuance, secrecy and -- if we're being honest at the end: triviality< /em>.

His conclusion (for now) probably came the only way it could have for this story: as a footnote to a footnote during a YouTube interview of three hours that Musk did with the guys behind Full Send.

Now that we can piece together the whole story arc, I think it's pretty fun. And, it's time to tell it all in one place.

November 2020

A startup that most people had never heard of at the time, called Boxabl, posted a video on YouTube: Boxabl Factory Update 2021 - Factory Mass Production.

In the video, Boxabl co-founder Galiano Tiramani explained how his company built and transported a small modular home for one of its first buyers: "a top secret client", located in: Boca Chica, Texas.

I guess you know this if you've read this far, but Boca Chica is home to SpaceX's starbase. And you certainly know that Musk is the founder and CEO of SpaceX.

While Tiramani talks about his "top secret client", in the video he is seated next to a giant poster of a SpaceX rocket. So it didn't exactly require Sherlock Holmes' levels of deductive reasoning - if anyone had seen the video at the time.

June 2021

More than six months have passed. But, in response to a Twitter user who praised him for using "fewer resources than most multi-millionaires despite working much harder," Musk revealed:

"My main house is literally a ~$50,000 house in Boca Chica/Starbase that I rent from SpaceX. That's pretty awesome."

Wait some thought. There was this video on Boxabl...and their retail price is apparently $50,000...don't you think...?

Over the next few weeks, many people started trying to make the connection. I was one of them.

July 2021

As I wrote then, Musk's decision to downsize was "life-changing." And I continued:

"Musk almost certainly lives in a tiny 380 square foot collapsible house-in-a-box, which was made by a company called Boxabl."

I emphasized the "almost", because even if it seemed probable, I had not confirmed it. (I believe in the old adage that you should check everything. If your own mother tells you she loves you, check it.)

Before the end of the month, I did a 45-minute video interview with Boxabl's co-founder - Galiano Tiramani's father, Paolo Tiramani - and followed it up with the blunt question: Elon Is Musk alive? in this little Boxabl house?

Tiramani didn't answer, although I asked him the question in several ways. We still had an interesting and pleasant conversation, and I learned a lot about Boxabl. I left intrigued.

But it bothered me for some reason that we couldn't quite come full circle.

"Whether [Musk] turns out to be an investor, client, or just a guy who tweets about t...
