Failing Tories should hit the top 1% with an 'emergency tax', while loopholes allowing energy companies to dodge paying their fair share should be closed, Green Party will say today today.

They claim the measures would bring in £75 billion, which could be invested in a massive program of home insulation and renewable energy.

The Greens describe Liz Truss' policies as "a climate-killing, growth-at-all-costs agenda that will deepen inequality and poison our environment".

Mr Ramsay is expected to say: 'The way things are right now - money and power in our society are in the wrong places.

"Oil and gas companies are thriving; families are struggling to pay their bills.

"Billionaires reap millions in interest; nurses go to food banks."

He will say Ms Truss 'has doubled down on the Tories' lack of compassion and awareness for people's real concerns as the cost of living crisis is allowed to continue and accelerate.
