Emma Barnett is to leave Woman's Hour in April for a new role presenting BBC Radio 4's Today programme.
< p class="ssrcss- 1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10">She will ultimately replace Martha Kearney, who previously announced she would leave the morning news program after the next general election.
Barnett said she was "delighted to join a program which occupies such a unique space in British life".
The Presenter will also present documentaries and interviews for the BBC as part of her new role.
In a statement, she said: "We live in unstable times where sometimes even asking a question can seem risky - wrongly so.
"My ambition on the Today show is to continue to ask the questions listeners want answered - while generating plenty of smiles along the way - while armed with a very strong cup of tea."
She added: "My time on Woman's Hour means a lot to me and I would like to thank the team and our mighty army. listeners for all we shared - the joy, the wisdom, the heartbreak and sometimes pure rage."
