England v Ireland ODI Series: First-rate changes to the Irish squad

South African-born Campher made his ODI debut for Ireland in the series against England three years ago

The versatile Campher goes from the intermediate order to fill the void left by Balbirnie, who resumes his opening partnership with Paul Stirling.

Headingley, Trent Bridge and the Seat Unique Stadium in Bristol will host the matches from 20 to 26 September.

The teams last met in an ODI series in 2020 with England winning 2-1.

"While the team has an overall familiar shape, there are several important changes that we'll look at , "said Andrew White, men's national coach of Ireland.

"Key changes are at the top of the order where Andrew Balbirnie will open with Paul Stirling. The pair have great understanding and we think they can become a longer term opening option in the 50 game.

" Along with that, Curtis Campher will move up to number three, where we believe he has the technique and skills to succeed in this role - he plays the pace as well as anyone on the team, and although he has been a mainstay in our middle order for a few years now, we believe he has the ability to rise higher in the order and make a truly positive impact.

"We consider this series to be important in the development and evolution of our one day team and the players are certainly looking forward to playing England."

Ireland Team: Paul Stirling (Captain), Mark Adair, Andrew Balbirnie, Curtis Campher, Gareth Delany , George Dockrell, Graham Hume, Josh Little, Andy McBrine, Barry McCarthy, Neil Rock, Harry Tector, Lorcan Tucker, Theo van Woerkom, Craig Young.
