F1 takes 'clear stance' on Canadian Grand Prix cancellation as wildfires wreak havoc

Wildfires started in late April, forcing thousands of people to flee their homes in the western provinces.

These fires were quickly brought under control, but strong winds spread the fires east into Nova Scotia, Quebec and Ontario.

More than 300 fires are believed to be burning in the eastern provinces and millions of acres will be scorched.

The United States sent 600 American firefighters to help its northern neighbors with the ongoing fires.

This came after New York was enveloped in thick smoke, forcing outdoor events to be canceled and flights to LaGuardia Airport grounded.
