The days of Dodger fans getting nuts thrown in their faces are over - famed salesman Roger Owens has been banned from his traditional routine of throwing bags of peanuts... with officials deeming the practice too dangerous.

Owens, 79, who is famous for his theatrical play when delivering a bag of nuts to fans at Dodger Stadium for decades, claims his bosses told him to refrain from his signature delivery while walking through the paths of the park.

The reason? ? Levy Restaurants - who is in charge of stadium concessions - believes Owens' pitch is a safety issue for spectators.

"I'm so heartbroken about this," Owens told the Los Angeles Times.

The seller - who has been featured on the 'Tonight Show' Starring Johnny Carson, as well as several movies and TV shows - won't dispute the decision...but says he was always responsible for his craft ... and his goal has always been for fans to be able to collect their purchases.

“They have time to see it coming,” Owens told the outlet. "It's not a ball that goes through. I always want to make sure whoever I'm throwing to gets the bag of peanuts."

The ruling is very likely to prevent a lawsuit in case an unsuspecting fan is hit by an errant pitch...but the Dodgers' 2022 ticket deal seems to cover the team's ass in this event .

There is still hope for Roger - there were similar bans on throwing peanuts in 1976 and 1985...but these were later overturned after fans got angry.
