Apple's 16-inch MacBook Pro is $250 off right now

If you've already decided to go the extra mile with your next laptop, consider the 16-inch MacBook Pro. We gave it a 92 in our review, and we couldn't find too many reasons to knock it. However, it is quite expensive with its starting price of $2,499. But right now, you can grab it for $250 less on Amazon, as the online retailer has dropped the price of the 512GB version to $2,249. It's the best price we've seen, and you can get the discount on their silver or space gray model.

Buy a 16-inch MacBook Pro from Amazon - $2,249

Unlike many other laptops from Apple, the 16-inch MacBook Pro has been redesigned a bit to make it more of a power-user machine. It has a 16.2-inch Liquid Retina XDR display that's only interrupted by a top-end that houses the 1080p webcam. The Touch Bar is gone, but Apple's Magic Keyboard is still a dream to type on, and the trackpad is wonderful to use, too. But arguably most importantly, the sides of the MacBook Pro now have a slew of ports that the laptop has been missing for a long time. It has three Thunderbolt 4 USB-C connections, a full-size HDMI port and SD card reader, headphone jack and MagSafe power connector - all to say you won't live not as much dongle life as you may have already had, although you may still need a USB-A adapter from time to time.

The base model on sale runs on Apple's M1 Pro chipset, 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage, and it costs a hefty 4.7 pounds. While it's not the most portable machine (we'd recommend going for the 14-inch version if that's a priority for you), it's certainly a powerhouse when it comes to performance. In our benchmark tests, the Pro blew most comparable Windows machines out of the water and did so while maintaining good battery life. The 16-inch Pro lasted around 16.5 hours in our battery tests, and it's worth noting that we didn't notice a drop in performance when running on battery power alone.

Ultimately, the 16-inch MacBook Pro is ideal for audio and video producers or others in creative fields who want the most screen real estate possible along with some of the best performance you'll find in a computer laptop today. Yes, it's still pricey even when it's on sale, but it's a much better buy when you can grab it for $250 less than usual.
