First look at the trailer for Showtime's "Let the Right One In" series

Leave the good in the teaser

"That thing that bit you... is thousands of years old." Showtime has released a first trailer for their new version of Let the Right One In , a streaming serial adaptation of John Ajvide Lindqvist's beloved Swedish vampire book. This new series centers on Mark and his daughter Eleanor, whose life changed 10 years earlier when she was turned into a vampire. The show's filmmakers explain that they're taking a slightly different approach than the previous two films: "What I found so compelling about this film is that there's a much more restrained relationship between the vampire and [her] adult caretaker. I really used the movie as inspiration for a story that really focuses on a 12-year-old girl who's been a vampire for 10 years." The series stars Demián Bichir as Mark and Madison Taylor Baez as the vampire girl, as well as Anika Noni Rose, Grace Gummer, Kevin Carroll, Ian Foreman and Jacob Buster. I'm a big fan of the original movie and the American remake by Matt Reeves. So unfortunately I will say it doesn't look that good, but I'm not surprised. They mine IP caves for as much content as they can these days. Well.

Leave the good in the series

Based on the best-selling Swedish novel and film, the series centers on Mark (Bichir) and his daughter Eleanor (Baez) whose lives were forever changed 10 years earlier when she was turned into a vampire. Locked up at 12, possibly forever, Eleanor leads a closed life, only able to go out at night, while her father does his best to provide her with the human blood she needs to stay alive. With these emotionally charged and terrifying ingredients as a starting point, Let the Right One In will subvert genre expectations, turning a naturalistic lens on human frailty, strength and compassion. Let in The Right One is a new series for Showtime adapted and presented by Andrew Hinderaker, also from the 'Penny Dreadful', 'Pure Genius' and 'Away' series previously. With episodes directed by Viet Nguyen, Hiromi Kamata and Seith Mann. Based on the novel by John Ajvide Lindqvist. It is produced by Demián Bichir. And executive produced by Hinderaker, Seith Mann and Marty Adelstein, as well as Becky Clements for Tomorrow Studios. Showtime will launch the Let the Right One In series to stream on Showtime starting October 7, 2022 early this fall.
