Telles seals Sevilla loan as Ten Hag backed to 'get the most out of' Man Utd duo

Alex Telles has left Manchester United as the former Porto defender has joined La Liga side Sevilla on a season-long loan deal.

The Red Devils are entering a new era under new manager Erik ten Hag.

The Dutchman had a lot to deal with and, in typical Man Utd fashion, not everything went to plan.

Could Jamie Vardy join Leicester talent drain for a pay day at Chelsea or Man Utd?

Cristiano Ronaldo acted as they wasted time trying to sign Frenkie de Jong.

Their first signing this summer was Tyrell Malacia from Feyenoord. With Luke Shaw and Telles at the club, we were always going to leave this summer.

With Telles often playing second fiddle to the Englishman, he was likely to be the one to leave. Man Utd confirmed on Thursday that he had joined Sevilla on loan.

Telles (via Twitter) left the door open to return to United, saying: “To everyone at United: colleagues, staff, fans. season. Thank you for the moments spent."

This may be wishful thinking on the part of the player, as Ten Hag has made it clear that he is not part of his plans.

With Ronaldo's future still uncertain, Ten Hag will be even more dependent on the strikers currently at Man Utd.

Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho both underperformed last season. In their defense, they weren't alone in this.

Rashford looked full of confidence after returning from shoulder surgery, while Sancho was slow to adjust after leaving Borussia Dortmund.

Former Liverpool midfielder Dietmar Hamann believes both players will have the chance to improve under Ten Hag next season:

"[Erik Ten Hag] is a manager who can develop players," Hamann told safebettingsites.com.

"He did it at [Bayern] Munich when he was in charge of the second team and did the same in Amsterdam with Ajax. If they [Sancho and Rashford] can't do it under Ten Hag, I think it's getting harder and harder.

"You only have so many years to realize your potential, and when Rashford burst onto the scene, everyone was surprised by what they saw. Young players need confidence, but they are not getting any younger.

"But now they have a manager who knows how to get the best out of them, and then it's up to them."
