Ex-ref Mike Dean responds to 'mate' comment in controversial explanation of VAR decision (Video)

At the start of last Premier League season, Chelsea played out a 2-2 draw against Tottenham Hotspur at Stamford Bridge. In that match, there was an incident seemingly missed by referee Anthony Taylor when Spurs defender Cristian Romero pulled Chelsea's Marc Cucurella by the hair inside the box.

Mike Dean was on VAR duty for this game and, more surprisingly, he opted out of sending Taylor to take a look on the pitch screen. He later said he didn't because Taylor was "a journeyman", causing much uproar in the English footballing world. However, Dean came back to talk about the subject and he claims his words were taken out of context.
