Greta Gerwig assures fans there are 'a lot' of Ryan Gosling's 'Barbie' looks that haven't been revealed

Expectations for Greta Gerwig's 'Barbie' movie were always high, given Gerwig's past success as a writer and director and the cast of Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling. But interest grew exponentially after a series of leaked set photos revealed outfits the two actors would wear as Barbie and Ken. There was particular excitement for their cowboy outfits and neon roller-skating outfits, both of which sparked endless speculation about the film's mysterious plot.

While many fans were excited to preview the soon-to-be-iconic costumes, others feared the movie would be spoiled for them, but according to Gerwig, that's nothing to worry about .

In a new red carpet interview with Variety, the director promised that the leaked outfits are "not even close" to anything Gosling wears in the film. She expressed her gratitude for the strong fan reaction to the first photos and promised there was plenty more to come.

"That's how I felt and how Margot felt and I'm glad everyone shares that feeling," Gerwig said, before being asked how many different outfits Gosling wears as a than Ken. "I really couldn't say, but it's a lot - it's a lot, it's a lot."

The positive reaction to the set photos led to great publicity for the film, but not everyone was convinced that the leaks would be a good thing. Robbie recently revealed she was "mortified" by the leaked photos from the set.

"I mean, I knew we had exteriors to shoot in L.A. I knew, OK, once you do exteriors, you're going to be drunk," Robbie said. "There's probably going to be a small crowd of people who are going to stand out, because, you know, we kind of stand out in these outfits. So I knew there would be some attention, and probably some pictures would come out , but not like this. It was like crazy. It was like hundreds of people were watching."

Warner Bros. "Barbie" will be released in theaters on July 21, 2023.
