A sniper opened fire in a crowded Marbella nightclub, injuring four, including an Irishman.

The shooting took place early this morning after a fight broke out at the Opium nightclub in the popular Costa del Sol resort of Marbella, Spain.

According to local reports, among the injured are the alleged shooter who was arrested and suffered from stab wounds after a fight broke out just after 1am.

Police sources said: "One of the four people injured by gunshot wounds is an Irishman. He is the most seriously injured of the gunshot wounds. He was shot in the chest."
