Haaland cites 'incredibly good' Benzema as inspiration as he seeks Man City development

Manchester City striker Erling Haaland has cited Karim Benzema as "incredibly good" as an inspiration as he pledged to never stop improving at the Etihad Stadium.

Haaland has had a strong start to life in England since his £51m (€60m) transfer from Borussia Dortmund, scoring three goals in as many Premier League games for the defending champions.< /p>

City have edged out some of the world's biggest clubs in the race to secure the Norway international's services, including reigning La Liga and Champions League winners Real Madrid.

Madrid's talisman Benzema has been instrumental in their successful 2021-22 season, top scorer in both competitions along the way, as he recently overtook Raul (323) as second best club's all-time goalscorer behind only Cristiano Ronaldo (450).

The 34-year-old looks sure to be in contention for this year's Ballon d'Or top prize, and his recent exploits have inspired a player 12 years his junior.

"I don't know what's going to happen, but it always has to be about learning, developing," Haaland told FourFourTwo. "You can never stop looking for new ways to become better.

"Look at Karim Benzema at Real Madrid. He's 34 now and suddenly he's become an even better player in the last two years - it's unbelievably good. I still want to do that."
