Halsey took to social media to complain that the label was refusing to release the new song unless the artist cooked up a TikTok campaign around it. Eventually, a detente seemed to have been reached, with "So Good" hitting DSPs as Capitol issued a statement of conciliation.

For Halsey, things came to a boiling point in May 2022, as they wrote that the song and a music video had been over for over a month, but claimed the label wouldn't go ahead with releasing the single "unless they could fake a viral moment on TikTok ... Basically, I have a song that I love and want to release ASAP. But my label won't let me. Fans have taken to their own social media accounts, condemning Capitol for having allegedly delayed the release of the song.

On May 31 of last year, Capitol used its social media to post an open letter to Halsey, writing, “Halsey we love you and are here to support you. We are committed to a release of "So Good" on June 9, 2022... We are an artist-focused company that encourages open dialogue. We have nothing but a desire to help each of our artists succeed, and hope that we can continue to have these critical conversations."

The label did not add "...in private" to this last statement, but may well have, in the wake of continued tweets from fans of Halsey slamming the label. In any case, the artist took a lighter tone in a handful of related posts from then on, leaving Capitol out as they wrote to followers, “Now I can start using TikTok again to my true plan: to use sorcery to take over the world. … Thank you for following this fiasco. I hope you like the song."

Halsey's latest track to be released, "Die 4 Me", a solo version of a song which they previously cut as a duet with Post Malone, was released on February 23. It didn't have much of an impact, marking an inauspicious end to a relationship that once yielded great results and saw Halsey rise to pop stardom.

Halsey's four albums reached No. 1 or No. 2 on the Billboard 200. first three, "Badlands", "Hopeless Fountain Kingdom" and "Manic" were all certified double platinum.

The artist's latest album, released in August 2021, "If I Can't Have Love , I Want Power,” produced by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, found a newfound favor in Halsey among critics and other tastemakers, though it did not produce the same commercial results as the previous three. reached the Variety Top 10 Albums list for 2021, among other accolades, but after a No. 2 launch on the Billboard 200, without a hit single, it had a short stay on the charts albums.
