Hamptons Film Festival Unveils 30th Anniversary Lineup: 'Call Jane,' 'Decision to Leave,' and More

The 2022 Hamptons International Film Festival has unveiled its lineup of films.

HIFF's 30th anniversary kicks off October 7 with five world premieres, including "Who Invited Charlie?" directed by Xavier Manrique, screened in both the Spotlight selection and as part of the Signature Program Views from Long Island section, supported by the Suffolk County Film Commission. Jordana Brewster, Adam Pally and Reid Scott direct the film about a Hamptons-based family who are forced to come to terms with their past after the unexpected appearance of a mysterious Charlie. The festival runs from October 7 to 16.

Discovery+'s 'January 6' documentary, directed by Jules and Gédéon Naudet, is also making its world premiere as part of the World Cinema Documentary section. The film examines the January 6 insurgency from the unique perspective of the heroes, first responders and survivors of the attack as they reveal their first-hand experience of the position. "Pinball - The Man Who Saved the Game", "A Radical Life" about the former ISIS First Lady and the Netflix documentary "The Volcano: Rescue from Whakaari" directed by Rory Kennedy will also be launched at the festival. /p> Related Related

Other lineup highlights include MUBI's "Decision to Leave," directed by HIFF alum Park Chan-wook, about a detective investigating the mysterious death of a man in the mountains who finds himself emotionally bonded to the man's suspicious widow. The feature film "Call Jane", directed by Phyllis Nagy and distributed by Roadside Attractions, is particularly timely after the reversal of Roe v. Wade. Elizabeth Banks directs the historical fiction drama about a group of women who ran a clandestine abortion clinic before the 1973 Supreme Court ruling legalizing the procedure federally.

This year's Signature programs also welcome Cannes Jury Prize winner "Eo" to the Compassion, Justice and Animal Rights section. The film is directed by Jerzy Skolimowski and follows a donkey exploring a vision of modern Europe, experiencing joy and pain as it encounters good and bad people along its journey.
