Harry Styles' gay romance 'My Policeman' gears up for TIFF world premiere

The highly anticipated gay love triangle 'My Policeman', starring Harry Styles among others, is slated for a world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival. It's the first stop for the film from Amazon Studios on the road to release ahead of its premiere in select theaters on October 21 and premiering on Prime Video on November 4. At the moment, he is at the top of Amazon's list of Oscar contenders.

This year's TIFF runs from September 8-18, with in-person festivities being the main focus of the festival after the largely virtual events of the past two years. (A digital component, however, will still be part of this year's festival.) Directed by Michael Grandage, "My Policeman" joins the festival's previously announced world premiere offerings. These include Gina Prince-Bythewood's 'The Woman King', starring Viola Davis, and Rian Johnson's 'Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery', the sequel seemingly featuring everyone but especially returning Daniel Craig. on the case as Benoit Blanc. The full lineup is forthcoming, as is the premiere date for "My Policeman".

In 'My Policeman', pop icon Styles stars as Tom, a policeman locked up in 1957 Brighton, UK, who marries Marion (Emma Corrin), while secretly dating the curator of the arts Patrick (David Dawson). The film later hops between the 1950s and 1990s, with Styles' Tom eventually played by Linus Roache, and Marion now played by Gina McKee, as the pair decide to take Patrick (Rupert Everett) ill after having suffered a trait.

Grandage has previously said that while Styles wasn't the obvious choice for the project, the "Harry's House" singer-songwriter pursued the role after reading the script. “He knew every beat of it in that meeting. I found that incredibly impressive,” Grandage said. “He knew the lines of others; he knew all his lines. He knew why he wanted to talk about it, why one scene worked that way and another worked."

Styles that, although there won't be a "peen" in the film, his sex scenes show a bit of "bum bum". Watch the trailer here.
