Uganda survived a mid-order meltdown to make it 266-6 thanks to Deusdedit Muhumuza's 86 and Arnold Otwani's 56 at Farmers Cricket Club.

In response, Harrison Carlyon's 97 and Asa Tribe's 68 put Jersey on course.

In a tense end, Jersey reached 271-5 with 14 balls to spare while Julius Sumerauer took 39 steps in 18 balls.

Jersey - who will face Bermuda without a win in their next game on Monday - will advance to runners-up in the pool, with the group winners advancing to the next stage of qualification for the 2023 Cricket World Cup.

Both teams last played less than a month ago when uganda beat Jersey in the T20 World Cup global qualifier.

But the islanders came into the game in style having won all five of their games at the last Challenge League B tournament in Kampala in June - including an impressive 62-point win over hosts Uganda.

Uganda started well and were 121-1 after 22 overs before losing three wickets for three runs in the middle of their sleeves. Otwani was caught by Sumerauer at Tribe bowling, Ronak Patel was knocked out for 19 and Dineshkumar Nakrani was knocked out without scoring.

But Uganda captain Muhumuza came in and shared an important 62-point partnership for the fifth wicket with Kenneth Waiswa forward Sumerauer beat the latter for 14.

Uganda scored 96 from the last 10 overs - including 36 on the final two - and a half overs - as Muhumuza finished 86 off 80 balls to help the African side go past 250.

Elliot Miles of Jersey took 2-60 on his 10 overs.

In response, the Islanders got off to a rocky start - Nick Greenwood went for 21 and Josh Lawrenson was out for six as Jersey were down 37-2 in the seventh.

But fly-half Carylon and teenage Tribe built an excellent third-wicket stand of 130 - Carlyon survived two lost holds from each side of the pair doing their partnership of the century.
