Instituto Cervantes New York is a global Spanish language school and Hispanic cultural center

Instituto Cervantes New York (Cervantes Institute NYC) is the New York branch of the World Spanish Language School. There are branches all over the world. Sponsored by the Spanish government, the Instituto also serves as a Hispanic Cultural Center, in Midtown East, Manhattan.

The Spanish classes there teach the Spanish of Madrid, Spain, which is not necessarily the one spoken in the Americas, but is highly respected. When you meet Hispanics, your Spanish is a clue to where you are from and your social class.

The Jorge Luis Borges Library is the largest Spanish-language library in New York City. The Instituto has an art gallery and showcases many performing arts. There is flamenco, film, wine, and performances by artists from many Hispanic cultures. It's La Hispanidad!
