'Irreplaceable' Henry launches his latest Comic Relief

Lenny Henry was branded 'totally irreplaceable' while co-hosting his last Comic Relief - 39 years after co-founding the charity.

The comedian began his latest appearance on the annual Red Nose Day show by saying that it had been an "honor and joy" to be the face of the fundraising show.

Henry told viewers: "It It's not about me - it's about mirth and money, comedy and compassion."< /p>

Donations have allowed the 2024 show to raise £38,631,548 so far.

During an evening full of tributes to Henry, co-host David Tennant thanked him for "an incredible period of service". Davina McCall said her fellow presenter would be "one hundred percent totally and utterly irreplaceable" .

Henry founded the charity behind the annual broadcast of the comedy with filmmaker Richard Curtis in 1985.
